Ice pads are melting away – at 8C it’s no surprise

Tuesday, March 6th 2012.  It’s a grey day at Dieppe Park, but there are signs of life.  The young trees along the eastern edge are actually beginning to bud.  It’s seems a bit early, but it’s true.  This winter has been very warm and the grass in the park never really did a complete die back as in previous years.  The ice pads, despite the help from their artificial cooling, can’t keep up in this warm weather and the rinks have now been closed.  Not unusual as the rinks all around Toronto are scheduled to close by the first week of March most years.  Say good buy to skating until next year!
