Who are “Park People?”

The Friends of Dieppe Park may well not have gotten started without the help and advice from Dave Harvey of Park People.  We were concerned about; liability, red-tape, conflict with the city, stepping on the toes of City employees, lack of community support, etc.  Park People showed us that we are not alone in our desire to look after our local park and that others have found ways to work with the City, their local Councilor and the Forestry, Parks and Recreation department – without tears.  Here’s a short article written by Dave McGinn of the Globe, about how Park People got it’s start – Ed Horner Continue reading

Park People welcomes Anna Hill

Park People, the Toronto alliance for better parks, welcomes their New Coordinator, Community Outreach and Neighbourhood Parks,  Anna Hill

We’d like to introduce you to our new Coordinator, Community Outreach and Neighbourhood Parks, Anna Hill. She’ll be working for us 3 days a week starting February 29. Anna brings great experience with our local parks and fantastic positive energy for improving Toronto’s parks.
For two decades, Anna has worked in community development and design in Toronto and Los Angeles.  For the last six years, Anna has been Co-Chair of Friends of Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto.  In her role as co-chair, Anna has contributed to various park initiatives including spring and fall Park Days, a tree audit, an adopt-a-tree program, new playground equipment and the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers’ Market.  She also coordinates the park greenhouse and co-chairs regular community meetings.
